Warren County and Dekalb County posted two of the state’s highest unemployment rates in April according to data issued by the Tennessee Department of Labor.
Warren County unemployment reached 24.3 percent in April, an increase of 20 percent from March. More than 4,200 citizens are out of work in Warren. Unemployment in Dekalb County stands at 22.4 percent, an 18.4 percent rise from April.
Only three counties statewide reported unemployment lower than 10 percent. Fentress County stood at 10.1 percent in April, the fourth lowest statewide. Pickett County unemployment stands at 10.7 percent.
Putnam County’s April unemployment rate stands at 14.7 percent, up from 3.2 percent in March. More than 5,000 members of the workforce are unemployed in Putnam County.
Statewide, unemployment reached 14.7 percent in April.
