The Putnam County Solid Waste Department looking for workers to operate the new West Jackson convenience center.
Director Doug Ashburn said the facility could be open in about four to six weeks.
“We’ve had several set backs with the COVID and the tornado,” Ashburn said. “So we’re looking forward to it. It is going to be an abbreviated site.”
Ashburn said the Jackson Street site will accept recyclables while also taking regular household garbage. The goal was to have the facility operating last summer. The paving bid to complete center’s blacktop was just approved in September.
‘We’re getting Rogers Group to do the paving and the fencing, we have a bid coming back for it,” Ashburn said.
Ashburn said the department looks for candidates to fill some part-time positions. Ashburn said applications can be found on the county website or by visiting the Jefferson Avenue office.
“They need to be hardworking, self-motivated and friendly,” Ashburn said.
