Veterans Day celebrations happening this Friday across the Upper Cumberland.
Putnam County’s Veterans Day ceremony and parade will begin on Friday at 10:45am on the Broad Street side of the Courthouse Square. The photos of veterans from across the county are posted around the courthouse.
Overton County’s Veterans Day Program takes place Friday at 10:00am in the Joe L. Evins Community Center in Livingston. The event will feature guest of honor Andrew Sanford of the US Navy.
Van Buren County High School will honor veterans with a breakfast and special program for veterans and their families. The event started at 8am.
Saturday will also feature several events across the region. Cumberland County will have a closing ceremony for the Crossville Field of Honor at 1:00pm with a speech from Congressman John Rose and music performed by Noah Hawk and Jean Smith.
The Fentress County Historical Society is hosting an event to celebrate the day with commemorative displays from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
Smith County will have a parade and wreath laying ceremony in Carthage. The parade is scheduled to start at 2:00pm on Main Street and the following ceremony will take place on the Smith County Courthouse lawn.
Veterans Day is actually Saturday, meaning postal routes will not run Saturday. Most government offices are closed Friday. Some banks are closed.
