The Van Buren County School System returns to school Monday in the virtual way.
School Director Cheryl Cole said internet classes on Google Classroom and Zoom are being prepared.
“It’s just totally different than what we’re used to. We’d like to go back to what we consider the norm and being in school and things. It’s just a challenge of everything changing from day to day,” Cole said.
The school system plans to continue their bus delivery program to provide free meals for students. Cole said educational packets will be mailed out Monday for students without internet. Cole said right now, parents play a key role in their child’s education.
“Read with your child at least 20 minutes a day, or have them read to you,” Cole said. “Continue to working on skills that teachers send home. Spend time with your child and enjoy that time because you don’t always get that time back.”
Van Buren’s Spring Break is scheduled during the week of March 30th. Cole said prom is tentatively postponed to May 8.
