Van Buren County has locked in a price for a new ambulance.
Mayor Greg Wilson said the price $260,000, an increase of $10,000 from the original quote that the county commission covered through American Rescue Plan money.
“It’s a Dodge diesel,” Wilson said. “Basically, the same type of what we have right now. It’s to replace one of our last aging ambulances that has about 300,000 miles on it. It’s time to get that replaced.”
Wilson said this would be the fourth ambulance purchased by the county in the last six years. Wilson said the vehicle will take up to two years to be manufactured and delivered.
“Once we do that, the fleet will be intact for quite sometime,” Wilson said.
The entire price tag will be covered by federal COVID money. It was a part of the county commission’s approved spending plan of over $500,000.
