The Van Buren County Chamber of Commerce has launched a new website to better represent the county.
Van Buren County Chamber of Commerce President Mika Davis said the new website is part of a total facelift for the chamber. Davis said the old website was outdated and would have required lots of work.
“It had kind of been neglected a little bit,” Davis said. “Just volunteer work. Sometimes it’s just hard to find it so we knew that it was something that needed to be worked on and updated we decided to start fresh and make a new one.”
Davis said in years past people would not be aware of events as it was hard for the chamber to keep up with the website as they are all volunteers. Davis said the new website will help tourists and residents find everything from upcoming events to tourist attractions.
“Sometimes the most and best exciting things to do might be kind of hidden to a lot of people,” Davis said. “Especially those who are just traveling through so with the new website we wanted to make sure that they have all the information that they need and they have easy access to it.”
Davis said the ultimate goal of the website is to make Van Buren County more welcoming to all people.
“I hope that it can bring all of us together as one,” Davis said. “as a community, as business owners, as everyone between. Just trying to to help out and make Spencer a more welcoming more inviting space to new residents, to our current residents, to tourists, and to everyone in between.”
Davis said the website has been tested and the website is mobile device friendly.
