The Van Buren School System will implement a teacher observer program to provide feedback on instruction.
The School Board approved some $100,000 for two contracts. Director of Schools Cheryl Cole said one service will be introduced to science and social studies at all grade levels.
“Observes their class and gives them suggestions,” Cole said. “Sometimes they take it better from outside people than hearing it from principals and fellow teachers and sometimes they don’t, but they work with them all year long.”
Cole said the other service will continue the ongoing program for math for teachers in grades K through 8. Cole said she thinks the program has helped math teachers over the years.
Cole said teachers will also submit videos of their instruction to be reviewed by the companies. Cole said federal grant funding will pay for the contracts.
