Van Buren BDS Property Heading Back To Committee After No Response

Van Buren County did not get a response from Priority Solid Waste about closing on the sale of the BDS property.

The county decided in August to give the company until Friday to respond about the property sale. County Mayor Greg Wilson said the county went ahead and prepared to not hear back.

“Yes, as they voted back in August, the commission that is, it will go back to Committee B,” Wilson said. “To decide how to proceed forward.”

Wilson said that Committee B will meet on Monday night and discuss the property. Wilson said that Priority Solid Waste was intending to use the site to build a transfer station, recruiting counties to bring their trash to the site.

Wilson said the sale price that had been agreed on in April was for $200,000. He said the county has owned the property since 2016.

Wilson said BDS is a name used for the land, citing it as the old Best Disposal Services property.
