Upper Cumberland Roads Mostly Clear Following Heavy Rains

Majority of impassable roads across the Upper Cumberland due to flooding now clear as waters receded Friday morning.

DeKalb County Road Supervisor Danny Hale said the Possom Hollow and Vickers Hollow areas has water covering the roads. Hale said the roadways are now safe to pass.

Putnam County had precautionary barrels set around floodwaters on Burgess School Road and Ditty Road area. Road Supervisor Randy Jones said the cautions have been removed this morning as the roads cleared.

Fall Creek Falls State Park closed its gorges Friday due to open flood gates. The TVA Great Falls Dam causing swift waters while actively spilling rain water. Currents near the headwaters of Center Hill Lake are also very swift.

Jackson County had just a few closed roads yesterday evening according to Emergency Management PIO Derek Woolbright. He said that they have all been reopened as of this morning.

Clay County Road Superintendent Jason Browning said that there have been some minor issues with roads close to the creeks, but that they have been managing just fine.
