UCRA Named 2019 Governing Body of the Year

The Tennessee Aviation Association has named the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport (UCRA) as its 2019 Governing Body of the Year.

Airport Manager Dean Selby said the airport being operated by four governing bodies allows them to be successful.

“People just don’t believe me at first when I tell them we’re operated by four different entities,” Selby said. “Other airports are like ‘how do you all work together?’ So I’m pretty impressed that the communities do come together like that.”

The airport is overseen by Putnam County, White County, Cookeville, and Sparta governments with each county and city mayor serving as a member on the board of directors.

UCRA was given the award during the TAA’s 2019 Conference in Murfreesboro.
