The General Assembly has awarded the Upper Cumberland Human Resources Agency a five year extension to continue operations.
The agency was reviewed in Nashville Tuesday for its effectiveness to provide services. Executive Director Mark Farley said the organization is excited to continue serving the 14 counties of the Upper Cumberland.
“The last extension we received was six years and based on what we were seeing in other hearings, we were sort of expecting four years,” Farley said. “We are very excited they gave us a five year extension.”
Farley said the the state comptroller’s office audit over the agency released Tuesday was a part of the process. Only four findings were found with two focusing on board oversights.
UCHRA uses a combination of local, state and federal dollars to assist low income and vulnerable communities. This is Farley’s first extension and review since becoming director last year.
The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency was established by the Tennessee General Assembly in 1973.
