The Upper Cumberland Habitat for Humanity has secured a new location for its Restore.
Executive Director Pam Ealey said the donation based store will move to Jefferson Avenue next to Big R Farm and Home.
“We looked at that back 21 months ago, and it didn’t work out at the time,” Ealey said. “But as with anything with Habitat it’s in God’s time, and we just signed a lease to move in this fall.”
Ealey said the organization has been located at its 15th Street location for 20 years. Ealey said it lacked climate control and visibility to those passing by. Ealey said the new location fulfills both of those needs.
“East 15th has been a good location for us, but having the visibility off of South Jefferson and the climate control, it is going to be amazing,” Ealey said. “It’s going to impact our ministry so we can serve so many families for years to come.”
Ealey said the organization will create a drive thru drop off zone for donations. Ealey said the building will also need plumbing and mechanical work before moving in.
As for the old location where the Habitat’s offices are currently located, Ealey said the building will be placed for sale. Ealey said that means the search for a new home location will begin shortly.
