UC Habitat For Humanity Adds New Position For Senior Home Repairs

Upper Cumberland Habitat for Humanity has added Hope Craig as Neighbor 2 Neighbor Project Manager to grow the program.

Craig said she hopes to take on the responsibility of streamlining and expanding the program geared towards home repair for seniors. Craig said her passion is helping seniors live with dignity and stay in their home for as long as possible.

“The most vital part of any place really are the seniors,” Craig said. “They founded everything that is here before us and they’re vital to the community and the culture of where you live.”

Craig said the focus in her new role is to get through the backlog of improvement projects that have forced applications to close. She said when applications can open, the goal is to cut down the time it takes to apply, get approval and see repairs completed.

“With me in this position, I hope to take some work off of other’s plates,” Craig said. “To just streamline that process, to repair as many homes as we can in the Upper Cumberland and hopefully in the future further our area around us.”

Craig said that Upper Cumberland Habitat for Humanity is still looking for available contractors to assist in the program. She said through Neighbor 2 Neighbor, they address accessibility, weatherization, electrical issues and roof repairs.
