UC Family Justice Center Secures New Office In Livingston

The Upper Cumberland Family Justice Center location in Livingston will be moving to a new office.

The coalition currently operates out of the Overton County Sheriff’s Department. Director Amy Stockwell said operations are relocating to the old Twin Lakes building on South Church Street.

“We’re extremely excited to announce that we have secured a building,” Stockwell said. “And this would not have been possible without the help of the city of Livingston and specifically Mayor Curtis Hayes who has backed this and really pushed forward all along.”

Stockwell said the plan is to have a grand opening on July 16th. Stockwell said the location will serve as a walk-in agency and have advocates on location for victims of abuse.

“We will provide services from 9:00 to 4:00, and it is a walk-in agency,” Stockwell said. “If you are a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, elder abuse or even child abuse, you can just walk in the center at any time that is convenient to you, and there will be somebody there to help you.”

Stockwell said the move is made possible through a rent free lease contract with Livingston and Twin Lakes. Stockwell said the move in process and maintenance on the building will begin once the agreement goes into effect July 1st.

“We keep a library of resources that are available for those people in those situations, and we’re a partnership agency,” Stockwell said. “So, the Family Justice Center has employees, but we don’t recreate anything that’s resources that is already offered. So, Genesis House will have an advocate on location there, and then, legal aid has agreed to meet clients there, and then other agencies as needed.”

The organization has one other location in Cookeville. Stockwell said the office in Livingston will help reach those in the Clay and Pickett County areas. The exact address is 112 South Church Street.
