TTU Seeing Indicators Of Another High Enrollment For Freshmen

Tennessee Tech seeing good early indicators of another high enrollment for incoming freshmen.

Vice President of Enrollment and Communications Karen Lykins said it is still too early to predict what enrollment numbers will be. However, she said the university is looking at an all-time high for the number of applications and admissions.

“We’re about 17 percent up in both of those categories,” Lykins said. “So that’s a very good sign that we’re going to have a really healthy class come this fall.”

Lykins said they are working to continue their record-high enrollment last school year. She said one way to achieve that is by focusing on making the college touring process more personal.

“I think that’s the number one thing,” Lykins said. “We’re making sure we’re not losing our focus on that personal approach.”

Lykins said individualized tours are offered so students can get a better idea about what their specific campus life will be like. She said she believes that has helped to retain last year’s freshmen class, with some 92 percent projected to re-enroll.

“So we know that that big incoming class had a good experience and most of those will be returning for the fall we expect,” Lykins said. “But we’ll know more in about six weeks once registration has opened and everyone’s had a chance to register for class this spring.”
