TTU Bringing “Tech To You” To Help Reach Prospective Students

Tennessee Tech is bringing the university community to potential students all across the state as part of its “Tech To You” series.

Director of Undergraduate Admissions Steve Keller said that these programs were started at the height of the pandemic. He said that they wanted to make it easier on students and families who weren’t able to travel to Tech for a campus visit.

“So we want to take Tennessee Tech to them and meet the students and families where they are,” Keller said. “So that we can give students and their families an on-campus experience in their backyards.”

Keller said that the in-person meeting for prospective students and admissions counselors plays a key role in the college decision-making process. He said that the “Tech To You” series offers that opportunity to students who might not otherwise get the chance. Keller said that it can also help students get questions answered after their initial campus visit.

“The importance of attending a Tech To You event really is an opportunity to speak with somebody face to face and ask questions that might be best suited for that environment,” Keller said. “So instead of sending an email or making a phone call, it’s just a great opportunity to meet with somebody from Tennessee Tech in person, to have some of Cookeville’s famous donuts, and really have a solid conversation with somebody. Sometimes questions can be more complex than an email or phone call warrant. So having that interpersonal connection, that’s really what makes Tennessee Tech such a special university because it’s personal to us.”

Keller said that the Tech to You event series kicks off on March 17 in Chattanooga with admissions staff next traveling to Knoxville on March 21. An additional stop includes March 29 in Mount Juliet. He said that those interested can log on to tntech.edu/techtoyou to register and get more information.
