TTU Anticipating Full Stands For Finalized 2021 Football Schedule

Golden Eagle fans get ready for some football. Tennessee Tech’s 2021 season will be back in full force.

Athletic Director Mark Wilson said the university plans to allow a full stadium with limited precautions.

“Unless the pandemic changes in a way we don’t anticipate, we look forward to having everybody here,” Wilson said. “The ability to have full stands, full activities, tailgating, all those activities that Golden Eagle fans love about Tennessee Tech football.”

Wilson said the extent of COVID precautions that will be in place is unknown at this time. But, Wilson said the university is hopeful to return to a normal fan experience.

Wilson said the 11 game season begins September 2nd at Samford. The first home game will be the following week against Furman on September 11th.

“Our big FBS game this year is at the University of Tennessee,” Wilson said. “We have five exciting home games from Tennessee Tech’s Tucker Stadium.”

With Jacksonville State and Eastern Kentucky leaving the Ohio Valley Conference, Wilson said Tech found replacement games hosting Virginia Lynchburg and at North Carolina Central.

‘We were supposed to play North Carolina Central at home during the 2020 season, but of course that game was cancelled due to COVID,” Wilson said. “So as we rework that schedule with them, we will go on the road to them in 2021. They’ll come back to us in 2022. And then, we also added a non conference contest against Virginia Lynchburg.”

Wilson said season tickets are available now. The whole schedule is as followed:

  • 09/02 – at Samford
  • 09/11 – Furman
  • 09/18 – at Tennessee
  • 09/25 – Eastern Illinois*
  • 10/02 – Southeast Missouri*
  • 10/09 – at NC Central
  • 10/16 – at Tennessee State*
  • 10/23 – Virginia-Lynchburg
