The incident happened in the parking lot of Tony Smith Shelter Insurance on Broad Street across from Bobby Q’s.
“The truck has fell through a hole and it’s an old parking garage, as my understanding,” Cookeville Public Information Officer Bobby Anderson said. “We anticipate that Broad Street will be closed soon between Womack and Washington.”
Anderson said there is no reported injuries.
A crane will be brought in to remove the garbage truck.
“They are still investigating it and hopefully we can find out more details as the investigation goes on.
Mayor Ricky Shelton said it’s not a sinkhole and the cause of the incident is undetermined at this time.
