A former Tennessee Tech student-athlete passed away Monday following a battle with a rare cancer.
23-year-old Anna Cooper graduated in 2018 after completing four years on the cross country and track and field teams.
A press release states that Cooper was a member of the Golden Eagles’ first Ohio Valley Conference women’s indoor and outdoor track and field championship teams.
Cooper earned her degree in human ecology with a concentration in nutrition and dietetics. Following graduation, Cooper was accepted into the MS/Dietetic internship at East Tennessee State.
Cooper underwent treatment at Bristol Regional Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
The release indicates that Cooper reported positive progress in May.
Cooper is survived by her parents, Todd and Jennifer, brothers Ryan and Liam, and fiancé Daniel Williamson.
