This Week Putnam Works On Private Act, White Co Considers Legal Action

This week in the Upper Cumberland the Putnam County Redistricting Committee will discuss a law that does not allow a seven district school board.

The committee has stayed together even though its final redistricting plan has been approved. But, the law, or private-act, could be up for modification. Currently, commissioner districts can be altered so long as you stay under a six school district, 12 commissioner district plan.

The meeting begins at 5:30 in the county commission chamber.

Clay County will hold a special called session to appoint a new property assessor Monday. Following the 6:30 p.m. meeting, commissioners will host a planning committee meeting reviewing the full commission meeting agenda for next week.

Business will take place at the county service building.

Monterey also hosting a special called meeting Monday. The mayor and Aldermen will discuss an established ordinance reading that change voting wards. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. at city hall.

Cookeville will have a work session Monday at 4:00 p.m. preparing for its full meeting Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday, White County will discuss whether or not to pursue legal action against the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency/Tennessee Wildlife Federation related clear-cutting portions of the Bridgestone Wilderness area.

The meeting begins at 6:00 p.m. on the third floor of the county courthouse.

Thursday, the Putnam School Board meets at 5:00 p.m. as well as the Sparta Board of Aldermen. Baxter Aldermen gather at 6:00 p.m. Gainesboro meets at 7:00 p.m.
