This Week Putnam Schools Work On Grant Spending

This week in the Upper Cumberland the Putnam County School Board has scheduled a work session to review state grant funding.

The State Department of Education recognized the system as a Best for All District for its use of federal COVID money. As a result, the district has received an award grant for the distinction.

Board members will discuss how to use the money Monday at 5:00 p.m.

The Cookeville Planning Commission will consider several rezoning requests.

Members will consider action on the rezoning of properties located on West Spring Street, South Oak Avenue, Scott Avenue and Depot Street from local commercial to central business district.

The commission will also consider rezoning 1100 South Willow Avenue from general commercial to regional commercial as well as 14 & 18 Hunter Avenue and 684 Broad Street from single family residential to local commercial.

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Tuesday, leaders from across Putnam County will gather for the Joint Economic Community Development Board. A mixture of elected officials, chamber leaders and school officials make up the board.

The quarterly meeting provides progress reports from municipalities, the chamber of commerce, schools and the county. Business begins Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Leslie Town Centre.
