This Week Putnam Commission Fills District Five Seat, Cumberland Considers ARP Projects

This week in the Upper Cumberland the Putnam County Commission will consider seven candidates to fill the vacant district five commissioner seat.

Terry Randolph held the seat until moving out of the district last month. Bobby Williams, Johnnie Wheeler, Vinnie Faccinto, Bruce Bailey, Junior Phipps, Tyna Bryan and Brandon Burgess are interested persons. Other candidates may attend the meeting to be considered.

Mayor Randy Porter will also give commissioners an update on American Rescue Plan funds and developing projects. Meetings take place Tuesday. Committees start work at 5:00 p.m. with the full commission beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Also on Tuesday, the Cumberland County Commission will consider using some of its ARP funding for broadband, sewer and water. The 2022 county road list to also be up for approval.

This meeting begins at 6:00 p.m.

The Cookeville City Council will host a work session Tuesday to review the agenda for Thursday’s full meeting. Council members will begin work at 4:00 p.m.

The Van Buren County Commission and Board of Education will hold a joint meeting Wednesday. Commissioners have expressed a need to review the school’s budget and gain a better understanding on its make up.

Business begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Van Buren County High School.
