This Week: Monterey Alcohol Ordinance, TTU Tuition Increase

This week in the Upper Cumberland Monterey will hold a work session with MTAS to discuss hiring regulations.

Some members of the Board of Aldermen have questioned Mayor J.J. Reels’ role in appointing town positions. MTAS HR Consultant John Grubbs will review personnel rules starting at 6:00 p.m. at town hall.

Immediately following the work session, Monterey will continue work on its alcohol ordinance. City Attorney Will Mullins will bring drafts to the Board of Aldermen after being recommended to use Sparta as a model.

Also on Monday, Pickett and Fentress County Commissions will meet at 6:00 p.m. The Overton County Board of Education meets Tuesday at 6:30 at central office.

Tennessee Tech’s Committees will meet Wednesday at the university starting at 7:30 a.m. At 1:30 p.m., the Board of Trustees will gather.

Members will consider a proposed tuition and mandatory fee increase. All meetings will take place in the Roaden University Center.

The Putnam County Budget Committee continues work Thursday for the new fiscal year. Deliberations begin at 6:00 p.m. with the focus on recommending funding for projects.
