This Week: Livingston Considers Hiring Two New Employees

This week in the Upper Cumberland the Livingston Board of Aldermen will consider hiring two new employees.

Members on Monday at 6:00 p.m. will consider hiring a Livingston Fire Department employee and a new dispatcher. The board will also discuss changes to the city charter in old business.

The topic will cover options for the mayor’s hiring and firing powers. Recent passed state legislation on behalf of Livingston gave the mayor the authority to do so.

The meeting will also include discussion of a capital improvement plan for the Livingston Regional Airport and an open burn ordinance proposed by Fire Chief Rocky Dial.

Putnam County will take the first step of redistricting Monday. The process is expected to be difficult with census numbers still not released and a year end deadline.

Tuesday, the Putnam County Planning Commission will meet at the Cookeville Community Center at 6:00 p.m. Members will consider a revised preliminary plat for West Fork Estates.

The six lot subdivision on Charles Maxwell Road was originally approved contingent on the developer also widening the road. The developer wants to withdrawal the plat and combine the six lots into one.
