The city of Spencer will host their largest fireworks show tonight in 18 years.
Mayor Mickey Robinson said unlike past years, fireworks will be the only entertainment option for the event at the Van Buren fairgrounds.
“The change this year is we are not having a band, concessions or parking at the fairground cause of social distancing,” Robinson said. “We decided to close that area.”
Robinson said Webster Street and Laura Lane will be closed with no parking available. Fireworks will begin at 9:00 p.m.
“We are very excited,” Robinson said. “We are thankful we can give back to the community, and let them enjoy this fireworks show.”
Robinson said emergency personnel will provide viewers guidelines on arrival. An outside fireworks company will be in charge of the show tonight.
