Tennessee Tech Moves College Of Business to Foundation Hall During Johnson Hall Renovation

As Tech’s College of Business students start the fall term, they will see Johnson Hall reproduced in Foundation Hall.

Director of Program Development and Engagement Cheryl Montgomery said Johnson Hall is undergoing significant renovations. Montgomery said the College of Business had worked extensively over the summer with University Facilities to replicate the college’s teaching and learning spaces in Foundation Hall.

“We had a few classes that we weren’t able to get into Foundation Hall, so we’re utilizing the other wonderful buildings on Tech’s campus,” Montgomery said. “The Stoncipher Auditorium, Kittrell Hall, Oakley Hall, T.J. Far, and the Library.”

Montgomery said that although facilities had moved all the student lounge furniture and offerings to Foundation Hall, they divided the lounge among three study areas. She said the arrangement provides all the features students previously used.

Montgomery said there were many improvements to Foundation Hall to prepare it for its new temporary purpose of supporting the College of Business. She said facilities had the infrastructure updated, electrical upgraded, new technology installed, new carpet, and painting. She said these upgrades will be enjoyed by all who use the hall even after The College of Business returns to Johnson Hall.

“When the College of Business moves back into its permanent home in Johnson Hall, we will find an upgraded footprint in the original building with some additional square footage added,” Montgomery said. “And it will be a much-improved teaching and learning environment for our students.”
