Tennessee Tech is set to break ground on February 15 for its new Poultry Science Building.
Project Manager Bob Scarbrough said this project is just over $1.7 million dollars and just over 10,000 square feet. Scarbrough said breaking ground will be weather dependent but once started it will be completed in 180 days.
“There are going to be actually two poultry barns, one on each end,” Scarbrough said. “Space in the middle is a little over 2,200 square feet. It includes a lab, some office space, an abattoir which is basically the slaughter room area and a processing room.”
Scarbrough said this brand new facility for Poultry Science will be located at Shipley Farms, across from the Hyder-Burks Ag Pavilion on Gainesboro Grade. He said this project is grant funded by the Tennessee Drive To 55 program.
