Tech Opens Its Doors To Potential Students, Parents On Preview Day

Tennessee Tech will open its doors to potential students Saturday for Preview Day.

The annual open-house event is for students and families to explore Tech and what it has to offer. Director of Undergraduate Admissions Frank Tittle said students will be able to interact with professors from various departments, interact with other students in majors that interest them, and tour campus.

“Our job in higher education is to help students recognize the opportunities that are out there for post secondary” Tittle said. “Just giving the knowledge to them what their opportunities are once you graduate high school.”

Tittle said some 500 students usually attend Preview Day annually. He said a very large percentage of the 500 apply and become students. The event requires online registration to attend.

“The biggest piece of success is leaving the day knowing that the parents and the students are happy with the experience that they had and that they leave informed,” Tittle said. “That’s our biggest thing, we just want to make sure that students are able to make an informed decision in the spring of where they are going to attend post-secondary schooling.”

Potential students will also have the chance to learn about financial aid, scholarships, and the application and admissions process.

“It’s a fun-filled day with quite a few opportunists for students to see what the full, well-rounded picture of student life will be like here at Tennessee Tech,” Tittle said.

Tittle said the event has been held annually for the last six or seven years. Its current format has existed since 2019. Preview Day will also mark the end of Tech’s free application month. Application fees were waived for the entire month of September by the University.
