Tennessee Tech student enrollment has exceeded 10,000 students for the first time in three years, an increase of some 200 students from last year.
Total enrollment stands at some 10,117 approaching the fourth week of the fall semester. The freshman class ranks as the fourth largest in the school’s history with increases in transfer students as well. Tech reports strong retention among last year’s record class moving to the sophomore rank.
According to Tech officials, this year’s class includes 21 percent non-white students, an increase from last year.
This year’s freshman class includes 2,382 students representing 29 states and 21 nations. A total of 85 of the 95 Tennessee counties are represented. The average GPA among freshmen stands at 3.68 with an ACT score of 23.7.
The College of Engineering ranks as the largest college on campus. The College of Fine Arts saw its enrollment increase by 6.4 percent, the largest increase on campus. Computer Science is the number on undergraduate degree. Mechanical engineering, biology, nursing and business management round out the top five degree programs.
