TDOT Repairs Potholes on I-40 Westbound

TDOT is working to repair potholes today on I-40 Westbound mile marker 273.  I-40 traffic has moved down to one lane at repair area.

Seth Clinard is the district manager of TDOT.

“The repairs we are doing right now should be completed today,” Clinard said. “If they don’t get done today, they will surely be done tomorrow.”

Today’s repairs make up for lost time during the rain, Clinard said.

“Week before last we did the eastbound directions,” Clinard said. “Then this is the westbound repairs we didn’t get to because of all the rain  last week.”

The workers cannot work at night, so the workers typically leave around five, Clinard said.

Clinard said this repair should finish out a series of repairs. The next repairs will not begin until mid-summer, Clinard said.

“The operation we are doing now is to get the potholes that are in the lanes, but we still have some areas that need to be repaired between the lanes. We’ll do a separate operation for that, but it will be in mid-summer.”

Drivers should use caution when driving through the repair areas.

“Use caution. Slow down through the work zone. There should be message boards up and equipment near the road, pulling in and out of the road,” Clinard said. “Use caution, slow down, and be alert. No texting.”
