The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has identified the man who died after being arrested by the White County County Sheriff’s Office Thursday.
Officials said 34-year-old Mauris Crespos walked away from a rollover crash on Highway 70 in DeKalb County Thursday morning. Crespos was located in White County after the crash.
According to a statement from the TBI, White County deputies deployed a taser when Crespos started to assault them during the arrest.
The TBI said Crespos was found unresponsive upon arrival to the jail. He was transferred to the White County Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The TBI said Crespos was from the Nashville area.
