Winds Bring Down Trees, Power Lines Around UC Friday Afternoon

Another afternoon of strong thunderstorms produced more trees down across the Upper Cumberland. Severe thunderstorms with wind gusts over 50mph brought down trees and power lines in White County including Turntable Road, Breeding Drive and in several spots around Sparta. UC Election Offices Saw Several Hundred New Voters Register

Upper Cumberland Election Administrators saw several hundred new voters register for the upcoming August election. The deadline to register to vote in this election passed this week. Putnam and White County experiencing some power outages after a severe thunderstorm rolled through the area. Additional 9-11 funding, employee raises and some new deputy vehicles among the new expenditures of White County’s newest budget. Commissioners passed a budget that includes an estimated $15 million dollar general fund Monday.
