UC Veteran’s Cemetery Land Purchase Finalized

The Upper Cumberland Veteran’s Cemetery has found its home in Sparta after the state finalized a deal for land along Country Club Road. The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency will apply for a $8.7 million grant to expand its early head start services. Expected Traffic Delays In Sparta

Expect traffic delays in Sparta Friday afternoon as T-DOT repairs areas around the railroad crossing on State Route 111. Repairs will begin around 2:00 p.m. Highway 111 will be closed from Fred Hill Road to Mayberry street in both directions. T-DOT crews will be repairing issues around the train tracks. Cookeville Man Killed In Sparta Accident

A Cookeville man died Monday afternoon in a crash at Sparta’s West Bockman Way and Highway 111. 88-year-old John Davis died when he attempted to make a left turn from Highway 111 onto Bockman Way. The City of Sparta wants to use the Tourism Enhancement Grant on North Carter Street Park.
