Sparta is getting a jump on spring leaf cleaning by helping residents remove any leftover leaves. Sparta Lowers Food Truck Vendor Permit Fees

Sparta approved an ordinance cutting food truck vendor fees in half during its Thursday meeting. With the change, food truck vendors will be assessed a $25 charge for a one day permit to $250 for a one year permit. Sparta Approves Water Leak Bill Insurance

Sparta will move forward with an optional water leak insurance program. Council members Thursday approved authorizing Mayor Jeff Young to enter an agreement for the program. The service agreement is with the company Water Leak Relief out of Crossville. UCHRA’s Early Head Start Program will not be expanding this year after the organization did not get needed grant funding. The agency applied for about $7 million of federal money to extend services to Morrison, Spencer and Sparta. Sparta’s Baker Park Bike Trail opened Saturday making it the first mountain bike trail in the city limits. Greg O’Neal and David Zuber along with many volunteers cleared the path for the mile course.
