Putnam’s August Sales Tax Numbers Slow Down Compared To Previous Months

Sales tax numbers rose in August across Putnam County, but the increase slowed from the previous two months. August sales tax figures released Wednesday showed an overall increase of 7.3 percent compared to the same month in 2021. Collections amounted to $4.6 million. Sales tax collected across Putnam County in the month of February was up 18.1 percent compared to the same month last year. The county saw the largest increase with 26.4 percent. Cookeville has reached an historic high for sales tax collections exceeding $4 million for the first time in history.
