Putnam Set To Reduce Interest Costs By $1.8M

Putnam County should save some $1.8 million in interest costs by refinancing the bonds on Monterey and Upperman schools. Putnam County Commissioners voted to write off some $627,000 in noncollectable debt from Putnam County EMS Monday night. The amount represents about 8 percent of the ambulance service’s revenues. Putnam Expected To Make FEMA Submission Next Week

Putnam County officials expect to submit the final report on the March 3rd tornado to FEMA next week. Mayor Randy Porter said the report includes expenses of overtime hours and law enforcement work around $3 million. The Putnam County Budget Committee voted last night to send the new fiscal year budget to the commissioners for approval. The Putnam County Schools got positive budget news from the state Thursday night. Director of Schools Corby King said the state’s estimated BEP payment to Putnam County will increase by some $219,000. Putnam County saw a 19 percent increase in COVID-19 cases Tuesday with 46 additional cases. The uptick could be a data reporting issue. Nashville’s Health Department reported Tuesday that one of the companies conducting COVID-19 tests could not report its results electronically this weekend.
