Cookeville Man Charged With Rape Of Child

A Cookeville man faces two counts of rape of a child under 13. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Division arrested 34-year-old Derek Lee Hargis of Cookeville Friday. A Putnam County Sheriffs Deputy has lost his job after being arrested for DUI and possession of a handgun while under the influence. 20 school resource officers in 19 Putnam County schools will receive salary increases thanks to a new grant.
