Dale Hollow Lake to Host 2 Weeks of Fishing Tournaments

Starting October 19th there will be two weeks of fishing tournaments on Dale Hollow Lake. Byrdstown-Pickett County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Billy Robbins said this will draw in around 800 people between the two tournaments. The community has to pay to host these tournaments. Unemployment Falls Across The UC

Unemployment fell below double digits in every Upper Cumberland county last month except Dekalb County. Warren County saw the biggest decrease in July as unemployment dropped 2.5 percent to 9.9 percent. Dekalb County’s July rate stands at 10.3 percent, but that’s down 1.2 percent from June. Pickett Historical Society To Distinguish Historical Buildings

The Pickett County Historical Society will launch a plaque program to recognize historical buildings. The Campbell Cabin will be the first to receive the honor this Saturday. Logan Retained as Pickett Assessor

Kim Logan was re-elected as the Assessor of Property in Pickett County Thursday night. Logan defeated Perry Garrett 879-453. A number of offices were on the ballot in Pickett County that were uncontested. Kathy Mitchell was elected as the District 2 County Commissioner with 211 votes. Larry W. The Pickett County Commission denied permission for a county group seeking a grant to restore Byrdstown’s Amonett House.
