Jackson County Signs 5-Year Solid Waste Contract With Smith County

Jackson County accepted a new solid waste contract Monday night after its agreement with the Moss landfill expired. Mayor Randy Heady said costs were going up $12 a ton and other offers were one-year contracts at over $40 dollars a ton. Van Buren County Looks To Take Action Addressing Solid Waste Revenues

The Van Buren County Budget Committee approved a five cents per pound charge on commercial haulers to take waste into the county. Van Buren’s Sparkmantown garbage container will be removed due to illegal dumping. Mayor Greg Wilson said tires and glass were being disposed at the location.
