Algood Council Votes Against A One-Time Bonus For Employees

Algood City Council voted against a one-time bonus for 46 front-line city workers Tuesday night. Three council members including Mayor Lisa Chapman-Fowler abstained. Council members Bill Bilbrey and Ruby Hawkins both have family members who work for the city. The resolution failed with just two yes votes. Upper Cumberland Quilt Festival Cancelled

The 32nd Upper Cumberland Quilt Festival has been cancelled. Algood Man Shot Friday Morning, New Mexico Man Jailed

An Algood man is in stable condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center after being shot at Cookeville’s LaQuinta Inn Friday morning. 31-year-old Justin Michael Payne had been shot three times in the upper torso.
