T-DOT officials are asking drivers to stay cautious along Burgess Falls Road with work starting on installing new a traffic light.
Public Information Officer Jennifer Flynn said contractors are beginning with the relocation of a gas line at the West Cemetery Road Intersection, where the light will be located.
“On Burgess Falls, it gets a northbound right and left turn lane and a southbound left turn lane,” Flynn said. “And on West Cemetery Road, it gets right and left turn lanes.”
Flynn said the $1.66 million project is estimated to be completed in August. Flynn said motorists until that time should watch out for signage, and slow down while driving through the area.
“Currently this week what is going on out there is you will see the contractor installing erosion control measures,” Flynn said. “(…) If motorists would just please use caution while traveling through the work zone and be alert of all the signage, traffic control devices and personnel and equipment.”
Flynn said as work moves forward, residents of the area can expect the roadway to change, so be aware.
