The Putnam County School Board approved a window project for Sycamore Elementary at Thursday’s meeting.
Putnam County Schools Facilities and Construction Supervisor John Magura said the windows in the gymnasium and the front classroom area will be replaced with insulated windows. The $132,000 project will help the school building become more energy efficient.
“The funds are coming from the County Commission.” Magura said. “They set aside funds last year for capitol improvements within the Board of Education’s buildings.”
Magura said Putnam County Schools will issue a notice to proceed to bid winner Mid-State Construction by next week. The project must be completed after 120 days after the notice to proceed is received.
The windows being replaced are in the oldest parts of Sycamore Elementary. Magura first recommended accepting the bid from Mid-State Construction at the end of May.
