The Warren County Schools will offer White County High School principal Grant Swallows the position of director of schools.
School board members held two rounds of voting Thursday night with Swallows receiving the most votes in each tally.
The two sides must still agree on a contract. Swallows would replace Bobby Cox, who will step down this summer as director.
Swallows took over White County High School in 2011. The Livingston Native played football and baseball at Tennessee Tech. He taught at Livingston Academy before going to Tennessee Tech as an associate athletic director.
Cox announced his retirement in January after serving the Warren County Schools for almost 30 years.
