Storm Downs Multiple Trees Causing Home Damage In Southern Cookeville Area

Putnam County EMA reporting multiple downed trees in the southern areas of Cookeville after a storm with high winds Friday.

According to Director Tyler Smith, South Willow Avenue and Interstate Drive have blocked roadways due to fallen trees. Smith said the area near Willow Avenue Church of Christ has suffered the most damage.

Smith said a few homes and power lines have been damaged from the fallen trees. Watauga Drive off of Neal Street also suffered similar damage.

Smith said crews are asking residents to stay away from theses areas as damage is assessed and roads are cleared. Smith said no injuries have been reported at this time.
