Sparta to Offer Zero-Lot-Line Development Zones

The City of Sparta will allow townhouse and condo-style developments in specific zonings.

Kevin Rush with the planning department said the new zero-lot-line development zones can open doors for the city.

“I think this will be a good tool for the City of Sparta,” Rush said. “It will give them another avenue of development in the city. I think it will be good for the city.”

The City of Sparta began discussing creating the new zones in June.

Rush said the zoning has provided new areas for development in Putnam County.

“Basically this is a tool that will allow them to allow residential developments that are more along the lines of what you see here in Cookeville,” Rush said.

The City of Sparta passed the second and final reading of two ordinances creating the zero-lot-line zones Wednesday.
