Sparta Replaces LED Lights on Popular Walking Trail

Sparta has been able to replace the LED lights on the South Carter Street walking trails after shipping delays.

Public Works Director Dillard Quick said the city ordered the new new bulbs before Christmas, but have gotten them in and replaced. Quick said there were about eight to ten lights out on this popular trail.

“We have the police chief, he has his guys go through checking the lights for us once a month,” Quick said. “We have another guy who goes through and checks it in between and we have the residents who call in and when they tell us that the lights are out, we try to accommodate to make it as safe for them as possible.”

Quick said that a combination of the pandemic and the holidays led to the delay on the lights. Quick said all LED lights should be in working order now around Sparta’s square and trails.
