Sparta Opens New Chamber Of Commerce Building Friday

White County officials and business owners celebrated the new Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce headquarters Friday during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Chamber President Jenny Dale said the facility is a major upgrade from the chamber’s old building. Dale said since the start of the year, the new building has helped attract 17 new businesses.

“We are excited for all of it actually,” Dale said. “Just making a difference with our small businesses. Helping them grow, helping them connect with each other. It’s just given us a chance to help our businesses.”

Dale said the building is open for business, but far from a finished product. She said there are plans for landscaping upgrades, a butterfly garden, and a water fixture on the property.

“It has been so smooth,” Dale said. “We’ve really had a lot of help. A lot of help from our community. It has been a great transition.”

She said the inside of the building is full of new gadgets including a brand new kiosk and a 98-inch flat-screen to display county treasures. Dale said there is still more to come inside including a ‘Hall of Fame’ exhibit featuring chamber members.

“We have a lot more room,” Dale said. “The parking is wonderful. We’ve got a lot of parking. It’s easy-access. It’s just all-around much better.”

Dale said the idea for the updated facility centers around promoting the city of Sparta and White County as a whole. She said with access to a facility like this one, tourism will become more popular, and the city will avail itself of more growth than ever. She said she hopes to have all of the finishing touches completed by the end of 2024.

The new building is located at 117 East Bockman Way.
