Sparta Mayor Jerry Lowery wants to live stream Board of Aldermen meetings.
Lowery said he is reviewing information from two companies. Lowery said he wants to fulfill his campaign promise of making public meetings more accessible.
“This is going to happen,” Lowery said. “I believe in transparency of government. I think government needs to have the eyes on us. I think it is important for transparency and also to allow the citizens of our community to see what is going on.”
Lowery said he would like to install cameras in city hall to broadcast meetings on the city website. Lowery said his goal is to bring quotes to the Board of Aldermen by the end of the year.
“That is being active, and that will happen,” Lowery said. “I’m excited about that. I want to be able to go live for everybody to hear and see.”
Lowery said through the project, he would also like to archive meeting videos for people to view. Lowery said a user-friendly system is the main attribute he wants from the software.
