Sparta Aldermen Approve Three-Way Stop On Golden Mountain Road

Sparta aldermen approved the establishment of a three-way stop at the T-intersection of Golden Mountain Road and Hale Street Thursday.

Mayor Jerry Lowery said he has spoken with several people in the area and no one has said that the intersection should remain unchanged. Alderman Jim Floyd said he received the same feedback from the people he spoke to about the matter.

Aldermen also approved making a three-way stop at Turntable Road and Ray Broyles Road.

Lowery said public opinion was much more split on that intersection, with people within the city limits supporting the addition of a stop and people outside the limits opposing it.

There will also be additional signage added to the intersection due to growing trees that have begun to block the view of it.
