A South Walnut Avenue home suffered heavy damage after a fire Sunday.
According to Cookeville Fire Chief Daryl Blair, fire crews arrived on scene to flames coming out of the door and windows of the home. Blair said the house was occupied at the time by the renter who escaped with no injuries.
However, two pets were lost during the incident. Blair said the fire was likely caused from an electrical outlet shortage. According to Blair, the fire spread throughout the home causing unrepairable damage.
Crews worked the scene for about two and half hours and prevented the flames from spreading to nearby homes. Blair said all four Cookeville stations responded to the call and did a great job.
